A bakery chain: price up, loaves down, profit down
Find the planted mistakes in an AI assistant's draft, fix the numbers, and name what it missed.
Practice in a similar format, not the real test. No firm's test is copied or reproduced. What the real formats look like, official and reported: AI-assisted case interviews.
Follow each firm's rules on AI
Bain's official assessment page says AI tools are strictly prohibited during its online test, including recording, screenshots, and any software that transcribes or gives feedback. Meanwhile, some firms now pilot interviews where you are asked to use an AI tool the firm provides. Read every invitation closely, and use outside AI help only when the firm clearly allows it.
This practice teaches you to check an AI's work, not to lean on it. Never use AI during a live interview or an online test unless the firm gives you the tool or clearly allows it.
What you will do
- Read the client's question and the data.
- Read the draft, paragraph by paragraph. Mark each one keep, fix or drop, and type the corrected number where you choose fix.
- Pick the key factor the draft leaves out, and write the one question you would ask the client.
Each draft hides a wrong calculation, a number misread from the data, a claim the data does not support, and a missing factor, next to points that are sound. Dropping a sound point costs you too. No clock: take the time to check.
Built from the worked case in the library, so every number is one our checking script recomputes.
